Blue Mountains day one

After waking up freezing I got out of the car and started scratching the ice of the car windows. It was still dark. We had some breakfast at the beautiful lake and head out to the Jenolan caves. Well first we needed to go shopping, go the bank and get a fan heater.

The drive to the caves was quite interesting. A very steep road that could hardly fit one car but traffic still coming from the front. We couldnt go any faster then 30kmph.
We bought a ticket to the River caves. 40$ each and went on a walk around the place before the official tour started. This was really one of my favourite places of the whole trip. There was a little valley walk where I felt like a hobbit on my way to mordor haha.
The blue lake was even more amazing. The colours and the reflections of the palms made for a great picture. And we saw a platypus !! So rare and so cute and small.

After a sandwich and some tim tams we started the guided tour. It was really nice down there, the underground river, the limestone formations and lighting of it all was pretty cool.

After the tour it was nearly 4pm. Our rule.. always arrive at the campground before 5pm was never broken and wouldnt be. After all we didnt want to hit one of the many animals that are out and about between dusk and dawn. We saw enough dead ones on the side of the road. You should really never drive at night here unless you have a big ram on the front of your car and a fence type thing around the front window.

So we arrived in Oberon at 4.30, checked into the campground, had some dinner and went to the local pub. I guess pubs in small towns are kind of like diskos in big cities. The later it got the more barely clothed girls came inside.
This night the campervan was nice and heated although we couldnt sleep as well because the fanheater was loud. We never used it again. The further we drove the warmer it got.
